Greeley County Junior High Charter School

Field Study PhotographDesigned to offer a variety of approaches to teaching and to reach students of various learning styles, Greeley County's Junior High Charter School concept offers a contemporary, active education where students experience one-day, two-day and week-long field studies integrating subjects from across the curriculum.

Recent field studies include excursions to Denver, the breaks of northwest Kansas, Wichita, Topeka, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and various other locations. These ventures allow students to directly apply their learning to nature and the world as they learn about life and its mysteries first-hand.

In addition, each student has his or her own laptop for use throughout the school year. A school-wide wireless network, as well as wireless accessibility at the Greeley County Library, encourage students to keep up with homework, research, and other assignments. A computer lab is also available on site for teaching computer and repair skills.

When junior high students aren't traveling about the region or studying in the classroom, the Greeley County Panthers are a formidable opponent on the athletic courts and fields. The Panthers are spirited competitors in various sports, ranging from cross country and tennis to volleyball, football, basketball, and track. They also participate in Project Citizen, music, and drama.
